Physical Therapy Atlanta
PT Solutions Atlanta: More Than Just Physical Therapy
PT Solutions is proud to be metro Atlanta’s top physical therapy provider. Our physical therapists provide advanced clinical treatment using the latest evidence-based research to help our patients remain in motion throughout all phases of injury and recovery. While PT Solutions serves the state of Georgia with over 60 locations and growing, including many in the greater Atlanta area, we have worked diligently over the past several years to expand as a nationwide provider with more than 200 locations across 20 different states. We partner with local high schools focusing on athlete safety and injury prevention, and host races that benefit all areas of medical research. This enables PT Solutions to a part of many communities where we serve.
Races and Triathlons
PT Solutions hosts the Allatoona Triathlon, a premier Georgia triathlon benefiting the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research each June. The race begins with a dive into Lake Allatoona for a 500-meter swim directly followed by a 16-mile bike ride through Cobb County. The triathlon concludes with a 5K run through the heart of downtown Acworth. PTS Sports coaching staff provides year-round USA Triathlon certified coaching sessions to help first time athletes wanting to break into the world of triathlon and help veteran athletes looking to improve their race time and performance. Not only does PT Solutions provide top-of-the-line training for the race, but PT Solutions physical therapists and athletic trainers provide support at the finish line to help athletes work out any post-race injuries or strains. In 2016, the Allatoona Triathlon had over 450 participants.
The Cupid Chase 5K in Roswell, Georgia also benefits the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research. The Cupid Chase 5k is a Valentine’s themed race catering to the entire family. Individuals and groups can run or walk the 3.1 mile race route, while children ages 7 and under can participate in the Cherub Chase 1k. This event also serves as a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race. No matter the skill level, participants in the Cupid Chase 5K make it possible for PT Solutions to donate proceeds to the Rally Foundation. In turn, the proceeds help in the relentless pursuit of ending childhood cancer.
For many of our physical therapists and athletic trainers, one of the most rewarding aspects of their career is to be a part of the sports community around them. PT Solutions is proud to partner with professional sports teams including the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Dream, and the Atlanta Capitals ice hockey team. PT Solutions also extends its partnerships beyond sports teams and works with performing arts organizations such as the Georgia Ballet company and school. We make sure that our clinical experts are made available to these athletes and performers year-round.
While PT Solutions partners with the professional community, we also work with local teams and recreational sports organizations throughout the metro Atlanta area to ensure injury prevention and treatment. PT Solutions therapists and athletic trainers work with local high school athletic programs to prevent concussions by proactively educating coaches, parents, and staff on concussion awareness and return-to-play protocols. Beyond preventing injuries, our sports medicine professionals often find themselves invested in the teams they work with, rooting for their successes and wins. Hear what one of our athletic trainers has to say about the basketball program she works with:
“I had a pretty solid girls basketball program that would always lose to one of the rival schools. Last year we matched up against that school in the state tournament after losing to them twice during the regular season. That day all the outdoor sports were cancelled due to bad weather and it seemed as though everyone came out to the game to support their respective schools. Our team ended up winning by almost 15 points. I’ve never wanted any of my school’s teams to succeed so bad. I was proud of them.”
Our Athletic Trainers partner with the local clinics and this partnership allows PT Solutions physical therapists to connect with the community around them and take ownership in the Atlanta area sports community. While the impact on our sports medicine team is a highlight in their professional careers, their efforts also leave a lasting impression in the lives of young athletes.
The Residency Program At PT Solutions
Georgia residents pursuing a career in physical therapy have a unique opportunity with PT Solutions. The distance model Orthopaedic Residency Program offered by PT Solutions allows for aspiring physical therapists to immerse themselves into the field with the state’s leading physical therapy practice. This program is credentialed by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education.
The program includes an integrated approach to physical therapy firmly rooted in research and practice with didactic lectures, clinical mentorships and clinical research models. Through this program, our goal is to produce therapists prepared to take the Board of Physical Therapy Specialties test to become orthopedic clinical specialists. Along with this goal, we want our therapists to become a part of the Atlanta community, assisting in both injury prevention and treatment throughout the greater Atlanta area.
Our Residency Program faculty consists of clinical experts in the orthopedic physical therapy field who possess superior technical skills in the areas of evaluation, manual treatment, advanced therapeutic exercise, and training methods. Our faculty includes therapists who have developed and managed private practices, hospitals, professional sports medicine programs, as well as running, cycling and triathlon assessments and training programs. The PT Solutions Residency program instructors include Board Certified Specialists, Residency and Fellowship graduates, business owners, and orthopedic surgeons who enhance the overall impact on life-long learning and skill development. Informing The Community
Supporting the physical therapy profession and raising awareness of the many issues that can be addressed by physical therapy has always important to PT Solutions.” PT Solutions is the presenting sponsor of “The Sports Insider,” a weekly radio talk show airing on Atlanta’s 92.9 FM The Game. Dr. Dale M. Yake, PT Solutions CEO and former trainer with Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates, appears each week to offer insights on sports medicine issues and his take on how to prevent and treat injuries. The Sports Insider airs every Saturday morning so we encourage the Atlanta community to tune-in and learn more about physical health and wellness.
Continuing education is crucial to the physical therapy industry. Our clinical experts remain up-to-date on the latest physical therapy research and sports medicine. We empower them to become leading voices within the physical therapy community. In doing so, many of our clinical experts have written articles and studies on proper treatment for injuries sustained during sports training and performance such as low back pain, tennis elbow, and spinal stenosis.
One example of PT Solutions’ commitment to education is the development of the PT Solutions’ Concussion Centers across the Southeast. We have opened Concussion Centers in Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina with dedicated dark rooms for patient comfort during treatment. We also partner with the Concussion Legacy Foundation, a national leader in the study, treatment, and prevention of the effects of brain trauma in athletes. Our team of over 100 certified athletic trainers uses Concussion Legacy Foundation’s Team Up Against Concussions program to work directly with local high school and college athletes to help develop effective concussion protocols when brain injuries arise. Our athletic trainers work with parents and local recreational teams all the way up to professional sports teams and their coaches to proactively educate athletes about concussion prevention and return-to-play protocols.
