“I was extremely disappointed with my experience during my initial physical therapy evaluation. From the beginning, the therapist came across as arrogant and condescending, which made an already stressful situation even more uncomfortable. What concerned me most was that he did not even know which knee I had surgery on, despite this being the primary reason for my evaluation. He also repeatedly commented that I was “six weeks late” to starting therapy. I was following the recovery instructions and timeline given to me by my orthopedic surgeon, so I found those comments both inappropriate and frustrating. Patients should not be made to feel as though they have done something wrong when they are following their physician’s recommendations. I was also very uncomfortable when the therapist discussed details about a previous patient who had apparently just been seen by another physical therapist in the office. Hearing another patient’s information discussed so openly raised serious concerns for me about patient privacy and confidentiality. Overall, I expected a professional, respectful evaluation from someone who had taken the time to understand my surgery and medical history. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I left feeling dismissed rather than cared for, and I ultimately did not feel comfortable continuing treatment at this facility.”
