PT Solutions to Present Award Winning Poster at 2019 ACRM Conference

Research on effective treatment delivery methods for chronic low back pain receives 3rd  place award from ACRM 

ATLANTA, Ga, November, 2019— PT Solutions Physical Therapy’s Director of Quality and Research, Zach Walston, PT, DPT, OCS, will present his research on Delivery Methods and Dosage of Pain Neuroscience, Education, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness at the 96th Annual American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine ConferenceHe will present his poster on November 7 at 3:30 PM in Chicago. The poster was awarded 3rd place overall for the entire conference. 

The ACRM Annual Conference is comprised of six days of evidence-based educational presentations for rehab teams, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers. The conference provides an opportunity to learn more about the latest evidence-based research translated for clinical practice in 20 areas of focus including pain, neuroplasticity, brain injury, and lifestyle medicine

“I am honored to be representing PT Solutions on the topic of neuroscience at ACRM this year,” said Walston. “I strongly believe in the power of evidence-based research as basis of physical therapy treatment, especially for patients with low back pain.” 

The award-winning poster focuses on how utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, pain neuroscience education, and mindfulness have been found to be effective in treating chronic low back pain. The research for the poster was conducted in partnership with Emory University’s DPT program and PT Solutions’ Senior Clinic Director Lisa Spiker PT, DPT, OCS, who served alongside Walston as an advisor for three students. 

Walston earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and then received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory University. He is a graduate of PT Solutions’ Orthopaedic Residency Program and now serves as Orthopaedic Residency Program Coordinator. His current role as Director of Quality and Research at PT Solutions comprises of overseeing research efforts, developing and teaching continuing education courses, and developing quality improvement initiatives throughout the practice.
