PTS Patient Cycles for Wounded Veterans and Their Families

PT Solutions is a proud sponsor of Cycling for Warriors: One Man’s Epic Bicycle Ride Across America for Veterans And Their Families!

On Sunday, August 25th, 2013, Michael Schwartz set out for San Diego, California, to begin fundraising for the Wounded Warriors Project. His goal was to cycle from California to Florida with his brother, Woody, raising funds along the way for wounded veterans and their families.

However, Michael’s epic journey didn’t begin in California–two years ago, Michael was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Unable to lift weights or exercise without discomfort, Michael began therapy at PT Solutions. With his therapy, Michael was able to do the exercise needed to lose 50 pounds, and ultimately, Michael reversed his diabetes. During this time, Michael developed a passion for cycling and participated in multiple PT Solutions duathlons and triathlons.

As a former veteran himself, providing for veterans is very close to Michael’s heart. Nearing the end of his Cycling for Warriors journey, Michael stopped in his hometown of Cartersville, Georgia, on October 15th, to raise awareness for soldiers he had met between California and Georgia.

As Michael continues to Florida, we are wishing him safe travels and great success in meeting his monetary goal of $50,000 for wounded veterans. The majority of the funds raised during this event will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project with the remaining funds going to veterans Michael will meet along the way, helping with needs that the government may not be able to provide, such as wheelchair ramps, vehicle modifications, and home care assistance.
