Derek Garris

Derek, a native of Palatka, FL, received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2013. He went on to continue his post graduate education in the Sports Residency with Brooks Institute of Higher Learning at the University of North Florida. While in residency, Derek began his sporting career in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans working in correspondence with their PT during the 2016 season. In 2017, he began working in Major League Baseball with the Chicago White Sox serving as Minor League Rehab Coordinator for 4 seasons. While with the White Sox, Derek had opportunities to be mentored by Mike Reinold in the management of the throwing and rotational athlete. Derek is a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association and Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He also carries certifications in Functional Movement Screening, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, OnBaseU hitting and pitching assessments, as well as Owens Recovery Science Bloodflow Restriction therapy. Derek enjoys giving back to all individuals, workers, and athletes of all ages that want to learn, have fun, build functional capacity, and become more resilient during their everyday performance. Derek is excited to provide his therapeutic and performance services to Lakeland and surrounding areas of Polk County.
