Your First Visit

This is when your therapist gets to know you and begins creating a personalized treatment plan based on your condition and goals.

Your therapist will start by listening, getting to know you and understanding your condition. They’ll ask targeted questions about your specific issue, review your general medical history, and help clarify the outcomes you hope to achieve.
You’ll also be guided through a series of movements to assess your joint mobility and muscle strength. Your plan of care will be shaped by this evaluation, along with the goals you’ve discussed.

Once your therapist develops your treatment plan, a team member will work with you to create a schedule that is both flexible and effective. Be sure to bring your calendar so future appointments can be scheduled conveniently.

What to Expect

Your therapist will begin by listening and learning about you and your condition. They’ll ask specific questions about your symptoms, review your medical history, and help you identify the goals you’d like to achieve through therapy. As part of this initial evaluation, your therapist will also guide you through a series of movements to assess joint mobility, muscle strength, and overall function. Your personalized plan of care will be developed based on both this assessment and your treatment goals.

Once your plan is in place, a member of our team will work with you to schedule your sessions in a way that supports your progress and fits your routine. We recommend bringing your calendar to your first visit to make scheduling easy.

What to Wear

What you wear to your first visit can affect your therapist’s ability to perform a thorough evaluation. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Please also wear sneakers or other supportive footwear.

Why Patients Start Physical Therapy

Physical therapy helps people reduce pain, prepare for surgery, recover from injury, and improve how their body moves day to day. During your first visit, your therapist evaluates your symptoms, movement, and goals to create a care plan tailored to you.

Patients come in for a wide range of concerns, from ongoing discomfort and movement limitations to injury recovery and performance goals. For many, orthopedic physical therapy supports strength, mobility, and joint health, while sports physical therapy helps active individuals and athletes safely return to activity and perform at their best. Common reasons people might start physical therapy include:

  • Knee Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Sports Injuries
  • Sprain & Strains

“My nickname is Renie but I’m better known as Irene. I am currently going to PT on Woodstock Pkwy. Although all the people I have met so far in the PT area, Joe, David, Seth, Amber, are wonderful, so are the two gals who work the check-in desks. I have never had an unpleasant moment with any of them. My primary PT person is Joe Kafati, and how I ended up with him is a cute story. I met Joe in 2010 when I needed PT for a broken foot. He was such an amazing therapist back then that I wanted to see if I could find him again. All I remembered was his first name and that he is tall. I scoured every local magazine and found a picture of the employees at PT Solutions in Woodstock East. I noticed one really tall guy and he looked somewhat familiar (I hadn’t seen him in16 years), so I called the place and asked if the tall guy in the picture is named Joe. To my surprise, they said yes and I made an appointment and it was him. Joe did such a great job of getting me back on my right foot 16 years ago and I have never had a problem with my foot since then, so he was my number one choice to help me again, this time for a broken ankle. If you ever need to see a Physical Therapist, I really suggest that you go to PT Solutions at Woodstock East. They all work as a team and that’s what makes them absolutely wonderful!”
